I love working with young people and teaching. As a former teacher, I would like to continue to contribute to young people's lives and personal development by sharing my skills and experience as a poet. Having led creative writing workshops in my role as a teacher, I know how many students are incredibly talented and eager to learn more about the creative process.
I hold a Professional Master of Education in English and CSPE. I've taught 1st Years up to Leaving Cert classes from 2019-2024. Besides, I've conducted creative writing workshops as extracurricular offerings in the schools I worked for, which were attended by all age groups. I've also given an extracurricular poetry in translation workshop in preparation for the Stephen Spender Prize, which led one of the participants to win the competition and another to receive an honourable mention.
If you’d like to book a visit to your school, these are my offerings:
1. Reading and Q&A (1 hour):
I will read a few poems from one of my books, tailored to your school's preferred subject matter if requested. Students can then ask questions about the writing process, the poems, getting published, the day-to-day life of a poet, and anything else that may come up. There are two options:
Fee: 70€ + travel expenses
2. Creative Writing Workshop (2 hours, max. 20 students):
Confidentiality and a non-judgmental atmosphere are key aspects in my workshops to ensure that students feel safe and confident to share their work and express themselves. Feedback will always be sensitive and constructive, and when peer feedback is involved, we will agree on guidelines that ensure everyone is comfortable.
Fee: 140€ + travel expenses

- reading from my chapbook “Leafing” (themes: ecopoetry; identity & biography)
- reading from my chapbook “Witch/Womb” (themes: historical witch trials and modern day witch hunts in the media; women’s rights; spirituality)
Fee: 70€ + travel expenses
2. Creative Writing Workshop (2 hours, max. 20 students):
- I offer open-theme workshops on writing poetry in which I first provide a prompt, an image, or a guided writing exercise. The students write freely and can then discuss their drafts with each other. After that, I dive into a short craft-based topic, during which we read a poem or two and look at some techniques. The students can then rewrite and edit their drafts. Lastly, the students can ask questions and read out their poems if they would like. Resources and further guidance will be provided.
- Another option is a workshop based on a specific theme, which I will discuss with schools and teachers individually. One of my poetry books explores themes of sustainability and the climate crisis, whereas my second book looks at the history of witch trials, women's rights and diversity. I often draw inspiration from history, literature, art, science and current affairs. Therefore, I'd be happy to plan a workshop that links in with a topic on the curriculum, be it English or cross-curricular, and tailor the prompts around a specific topic.
